BoschSpoor is the consultancy company owned by Roel van den Bosch. His philosophy is:
A consultant provides a service. He doesn’t take over the job nor the work that has to be done, but he assists the people in the company. Only by doing the work by themselves, the organiszation will learn. Using the support of an experienced coach the result will be reached quicker and the lasting effect will be bigger.
Area
BoschSpoor operates within the triangle Government – Operations – infra manager. The consultancy is mainly focused on management, organization and technical processes within this triangle. Experience is based on High Speed Line, Heavy Rail, LightRail (including tram and metro) and specialties.

Consultancy Consultancy is offered ‘from ballast bed to board room’. The consultancy activities varies from developing and implementing of a strategic maintenance vision, (management) contracts, independent assessment of cost calculations or project development, assessment against existing legislation, mediation, assessment of a maintenance plan, safety assessments. When the organization and / or the playing field will be reorganized, all involved staff have to understand their new roll and relationship between the parties. BoschSpoor offers the opportunity to understand the new circumstances by using a simulation game.
Trainihg
The Dutch railway law has been changed due to the European regulations. This lead to new rolls and new involved parties. Together with Max van Asch van Wijck and Avans+ Hogeschool a new training is developed, focused on the chain : government – Inframanager – designer – contractor.

Experience
After his study civil engineering Roel van den Bosch (1952) has fulfilled several technical and management jobs, which made him a well-experienced consultant “from ballast to boardroom”. He has an in-depth knowledge of the Rail infrastructure maintenance processes and the interfaces between infrastructure, exploitation, and rolling stock. Roel has worked in a complex environment between government, operations and infrastructure. He is an experienced manager of multidisciplinary teams and operated in transformation processes, he understands the European regulation and is also an experienced investigator at railway accidents;
Roel van den Bosch is well-known as an independent, experienced person, who works within agreed targets and scope. His advice report is short of length, practical and when needed translated to non-experts. He has an enormous network within the inframanagers, ministry of transport, contractors and local authorities.
Carrier
Roel van den Bosch works since the end of 2009 as an independent consultant and owner of BoschSpoor. Previously he was Principal Consultant for strategic management at AEA Technology Rail BV / DeltaRail BV from mid 2001 until the end of 2009.
From 1980 until mid 2001 he fulfilled several jobs within the infrastructure manager of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways). He was involved in many national and international committees. After the separation of the Dutch railways he joined Railinfrabeheer BV (actual : ProRail) as the managing director of the south region. In 1998 he became the director of Maintenance.
Roel van den Bosch is educated as a civil engineer (MSc degree) at the Technical University Delft, specialized at railways and railways constructions. During his study he worked at RET, infrastructure department (Metro). After his study he worked for a short period as a project leader for a contractor.
